Vanessa is uniquely positioned to bring fresh leadership rooted in deep experience to reform the Johnson County District Attorney's Office. Her priorities include:

    • Rebuild specialty units within the office so the emphasis is on subject matter expertise

    • Create a prosecutorial data dashboard where the public can view statistics on case-related information, defendant-based information, case outcomes, charging decisions, jury trial statistics

    • Provide community members the ability to make inquiries,  provide input, and receive notifications via the District Attorney's website

    • Create a prosecutor’s working group to collaborate on best practices to prosecute drug overdose cases

    • Assign a prosecutor to the NE Kansas Multi-Jurisdictional Task Force to ensure timely communication and outcomes

    • We need to expand eligibility and reduce barriers to entry for our drug, mental health, and veteran treatment courts. This will increase access to proven methods of prevention, help people receive the care they need, and reduce recidivism.

    • I believe in a woman’s right to choose and the District Attorney’s Office should protect an individual's fundamental rights and not take them away.
